Update: Rural Broadband Initiative
3:41PM August 31, 2021
Carroll EMC is working in cooperation with SyncGlobal
Telecom to build a rural broadband network that will deliver fiber internet
service to CEMC members. We anticipated that network construction would begin
in August, and first customers would start receiving service by the end of the
year. As is often the case with projects of this magnitude, the schedule has
changed, and we want to keep you informed.
Due to a number of factors, most notably regulatory process
delays and supply chain slowness, construction is now expected to begin early
in the 4th quarter. As a result, we now anticipate initial customer activations
will begin in early 2nd quarter of 2022.
Carroll EMC and SyncGlobal are committed to solving West
Georgia's rural broadband gap. It's going to take time, but with your support
we are going to solve our rural broadband problem once and for all. A 100%
fiber network backed by the best technology and delivered by people you can
count on is that permanent solution. Thank you for your patience as we work
diligently to bring superior fiber internet service to your area.
